Front-End Engineer - US Remote Contractor

Role overview

Front-End Engineer for Bold+Beyond’s Digital Product team. You’ll work with UX/UI designers and collaborate with project and technical leadership to build responsive, scalable front-end experiences, including custom WordPress sites and tailored web applications.

Responsibilities

• Partner with UX/UI designers to create responsive, scalable front-end experiences
• Build performant digital platforms with strong user experience
• Develop custom WordPress websites using internal tools and a framework
• Create tailor-made web applications to meet clients’ technical needs
• Deploy and maintain websites via automated deploys on VPS servers or manually using FTP and SSH tunnels
• Scope new functionality with Project Management and support Sales for project scoping
• Work with the Technical Director to deliver cutting-edge technology and efficient solutions

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with WordPress and/or PHP, including the WordPress API or WP GraphQL
• 3+ years with modern web technologies: HTML5 and CSS3
• 3+ years with JavaScript and TypeScript, including ESNext and Babel
• Experience with bundlers/build systems (e.g., Gulp, Webpack, Snowpack)
• Experience with CSS preprocessors/post-processors (e.g., Sass, Less, Post-CSS)
• Experience with front-end frameworks (Vue, React, Nuxt, or Next.js), including headless implementations or SSR
• Experience with front-end animation libraries (e.g., GSAP, Tween, animejs)
• Strong QA, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or similar field

Nice to have

• Cloud services experience (AWS, Firebase, Google Cloud, Netlify, etc.)
• Graphics programming/shading languages (e.g., Three.js, WebGL)
• Pug/Jade templating syntax
• Familiarity with CI/CD operations and configurations
• VPS setup/configuration via SSH
