Front End Engineer, Sr.

Role overview

Senior/Staff Front-End Engineer to design and scale an AI-enabled energy software platform. You’ll build interconnected frontend applications that support automation and human oversight for complex energy systems and data-intensive decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Participate in frontend architecture decisions and strategic planning for scalable energy solutions
• Develop and maintain interconnected frontend applications for automation and human decision-making
• Translate complex energy domain requirements into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
• Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to deliver cohesive UX
• Build robust frontend strategies for visualizing and interacting with large datasets and APIs
• Ensure frontend security, performance, and reliability using best practices

Requirements

• Strong commitment to clean energy and climate change mitigation
• Extensive frontend/full-stack experience building large-scale, data-intensive applications
• Proficiency in TypeScript and React, including experience with complex codebases
• Experience designing and implementing frontend strategies for large datasets and APIs
• Knowledge of AI-augmented software engineering (GenAI, LLMs, agentic tools)
• Understanding of enterprise security best practices
• Experience with modern testing frameworks: Testing Library, Cypress, and Playwright
• Strong communication skills for remote collaboration

Nice to have

• Background in energy/power systems
• Proficiency in Python and FastAPI
• Experience with additional React ecosystem/tools (listed): React Context, Zustand, TanStack Table & Query, Recharts, D3, Plotly.js, Auth0
• Experience with observability, AWS, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
• Advanced degree in Computer Science
