Front End Engineer (Sr./ Staff)

Role Overview

Senior/Staff Front-End Engineer for a remote-first team, helping shape the architecture and build scalable, user-centric interfaces for an energy software platform. You will collaborate with product, design, backend, and data teams to turn complex energy domain requirements into intuitive, high-performance front-end applications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in critical front-end architecture decisions and strategic initiatives
• Design and implement scalable, user-friendly interfaces for complex energy applications
• Partner with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive user experiences
• Translate complex domain requirements into elegant UI solutions
• Develop and maintain large-scale, data-driven front-end components
• Implement robust testing strategies (unit, functional, and end-to-end)
• Continuously improve front-end performance, security, and usability
• Stay current with emerging technologies and apply best practices

Requirements

• Strong commitment to clean energy and combating climate change
• Proven experience building front-end or full-stack applications at scale
• Extensive experience owning complex, data-intensive applications
• Proficiency with large-scale TypeScript and React codebases
• Strong collaboration skills with product, design, backend, and data teams
• Experience designing front-end strategies for visualizing and interacting with large datasets
• Understanding of data models and API integrations
• Familiarity with AI-augmented engineering tools (GenAI/LLMs/agentic tools)
• Knowledge of security best practices in enterprise environments
• Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration across time zones

Nice to Have / Additional Signals

• Experience with modern testing frameworks: Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright

• Preferably based in SF Bay Area or NYC, with flexibility for candidates in the US, Canada, and Europe
