Front End Engineer

Role Overview

As a Front End Software Engineer at Rune Technologies, you’ll help build the logistics technology backbone used by U.S. and allied militaries. The role focuses on creating mission-critical, high-performance web applications that transform complex logistics workflows into clear, actionable operator experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain production-grade front-end applications using React (preferred) or Angular with TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Own front-end architecture decisions, defining scalable patterns, frameworks, and engineering best practices.
• Create intuitive operator UX for understanding and acting on complex logistics and operational data.
• Build data-intensive interfaces, visualizations, and real-time user experiences.
• Integrate with APIs and WebSocket-based services to deliver responsive, high-performance experiences.
• Collaborate with product designers, backend engineers, and military subject matter experts to translate requirements into software.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions to improve quality and maintainability.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, usability issues, and production incidents.
• Identify opportunities for front-end technical innovation and improved developer experience.

Requirements

• Expert in React (preferred) or Angular (only one should be primary).
• Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills (primary languages).
• Strong command of HTML.
• 4+ years of experience with 75%+ focused on pure front-end work.
• Experience building significant, non-trivial front-end products from the ground up.
• Ability to own front-end architecture and technical direction.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with distributed systems integration and real-time UI use cases (implied via WebSocket/API integration).
