Front End Engineer (Remote)

Role Overview

Build polished, performant front-end experiences for Decile Hub. You’ll own the UI layer within a Rails codebase and help it feel great to use—down to interaction details, responsive behavior, and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality UI: layout, interaction design, responsive behavior, and accessibility.
• Work within Rails: understand the Rails request cycle and implement features using Rails + views.
• Translate designs into interfaces in collaboration with product and design.
• Identify and fix UX issues: raise issues when designs don’t hold up in practice.
• Improve UI consistency across the product by finding reusable patterns/components and smoothing rough edges.
• Contribute to a shared design system.
• Use AI actively for UI generation, debugging, refactoring, and writing tests.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional front-end development experience, including work in Rails applications.
• Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for complex layouts and interactions.
• Experience with Hotwire/Turbo/Stimulus (or strong eagerness to learn them deeply).
• A genuine eye for UI detail and usability.
• Actively uses AI coding tools in daily workflow.
• Clear communication with designers and product managers about feasibility.
• Portfolio/examples of real work shipped.
• Must be able to live and work within a few time zones of Pacific (California) time.

Nice to Have

• Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first CSS frameworks.
• Familiarity with data/workflow-heavy SaaS UI (tables, forms, dashboards).
• Basic comfort with Ruby on Rails beyond front-end.

Interview Process

• Complete a Rails coding challenge as part of the interview process.

Work Style

• Heavy use of Zoom and Slack.
