About the role

Role Overview

Staff Front End Engineer for the Web Visualization Tooling team at Motional. You’ll build and maintain critical web tooling and visualization systems that improve feedback loops for machine learning engineers and help autonomous vehicle systems perform and adapt.

Responsibilities

Establish and drive adoption of cross-team web standards and best practices
Coordinate cross-functional delivery with ML, UX, data services, and data annotation teams
Architect and scale a modern frontend ecosystem using React, TypeScript, and Vue
Build mission-critical UI systems for internal teams and external stakeholders
Design UX for complex, data-intensive workflows
Apply performance, scalability, and maintainability best practices
Ship features iteratively in a product-driven environment
Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge

Requirements

Proven front-end development experience with strong proficiency in React and TypeScript
Proficiency with Vue.js
Experience building user-facing visual applications with strong UX/usability focus
Strong understanding of frontend performance optimization, scalability, and maintainability
High ownership; able to work independently and drive projects to completion
Ability to mentor and effectively communicate with stakeholders
Established habits for technical design and documentation
Experience collaborating with customers to identify needs and deliver solutions

Bonus / Nice to Have

Project management experience
Familiarity with backend systems (Node, Python)
Experience in game development or 3D visualization
