Role overview
Front-End Engineer (React Native / Expo) for a partner company, working in a product-focused environment to build and enhance modern web and mobile experiences. The role will help develop a high-visibility Progressive Web Application (PWA) and integrate it with backend services.
Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, and maintain a React Native + Expo PWA
- Create responsive, intuitive, visually engaging UIs based on product/design specifications
- Integrate front-end functionality with GraphQL APIs and backend services
- Implement authentication and authorization using AWS Cognito
- Develop features for event discovery, search, calendars, user profiles, and membership management
- Implement client-side state management and local data storage solutions
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features
- Perform testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and support production readiness
- Optimize performance, scalability, and usability across web and mobile
- Participate in code reviews and front-end architecture planning
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional Front-End Engineering experience
- Strong hands-on expertise in React, React Native, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Experience building and deploying apps using Expo
- Proven experience with Progressive Web Applications (PWAs)
- Solid understanding of GraphQL and integrating API-driven applications
- Experience implementing authentication/authorization in modern applications
- Strong knowledge of front-end architecture, design patterns, and state management
- Experience building data-intensive applications with multiple service integrations
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced product development
Nice to have
- AWS Amplify experience
- Familiarity with AWS AppSync
- Experience with membership/ticketing/booking/scheduling/marketplace platforms
- Startup or early-stage product development experience
- Experience optimizing performance across web and mobile
Contract & benefits
- Fully remote
- Initial 8-week contract, with strong possibility of extension
- Pay: up to $80/hour (W2) or up to $88/hour (1099)
