About the role

Role Overview

Front-End Engineer II (Remote) to build and enhance single-page applications supporting internal systems and user-facing experiences. You will partner with front-end developers, API engineers, designers, and product owners, contributing to component libraries, testing, accessibility, and code standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mobile-first single-page applications, primarily using Ember.js
  • Convert mockups/wireframes into clean, maintainable, reusable components
  • Maintain and extend JavaScript code and legacy plugins
  • Ensure Section 508 accessibility and cross-browser/platform/device compatibility
  • Perform linting, evaluation, and unit testing of JavaScript
  • Write clean, reusable code that follows published standards
  • Assist with discovery and diagnosis of bugs in development environments
  • Participate in front-end and Scrum ceremonies
  • Maintain code libraries and document technical specifications
  • Research solutions; contribute to code standards and reviews
  • Mentor associate front-end engineers and interns

Requirements

  • 3+ years developing and architecting single-page applications with a modern JS framework (Ember, React, Angular, or Vue), integrating REST/JSON APIs
  • Strong mobile-first responsive design experience
  • Strong HTML/CSS/JavaScript fundamentals (emphasis on vanilla JS)
  • Experience creating reusable components or libraries across applications
  • 1+ year with ES2015+ and Node.js
  • Experience with Gulp.js or similar build tools
  • Experience writing unit, integration, and acceptance/UI tests
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment
  • Comfort using AI tools as part of development workflows
  • Proficiency with React for modern feature development and migration from Ember (where applicable)
  • No backend work required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, or related field, or equivalent experience (high school diploma also mentioned)
