Front End Engineer

Role Overview

You’ll build and own the front-end UI layer of Decile Hub, turning product designs into polished, performant, and accessible user experiences. The role sits within a Rails codebase, and emphasizes strong UI instincts and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Build polished, performant front-end experiences
• Own the UI layer of Decile Hub features (layout, interaction design, responsive behavior, accessibility)
• Translate designs into real interfaces and ensure they work well in practice
• Work within a Rails request/response cycle and across the stack as needed
• Partner with product and design to implement user flows that feel great
• Improve UI consistency and quality across the product
• Identify reusable patterns and components; smooth rough edges
• Contribute to a shared design system
• Use AI tools to accelerate work (UI generation, debugging, refactoring, writing tests)

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional front-end development experience, including work within Rails applications
• Strong command of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (build complex layouts/interactions)
• Experience with Hotwire/Turbo/Stimulus or strong eagerness to learn deeply
• Clear eye for UI quality (noticing details most engineers miss)
• Active use of AI coding tools in daily workflow
• Ability to communicate clearly with designers and product managers about feasibility
• Portfolio/examples of shipped work
• Must live and work within a few time zones of Pacific (California) time

Nice to Have

• Experience with Tailwind CSS (or similar utility-first frameworks)
• Familiarity with data- or workflow-heavy SaaS (tables, forms, dashboards)
• Basic comfort with Ruby and Rails beyond front end
