About the role
Role Overview
Front-End Developer (WordPress + JavaScript) to design, develop, and optimize high-quality WordPress websites focused on usability, performance, and visual excellence. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, developers, and client teams to turn UI/UX concepts into responsive, interactive, scalable web experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop and build visually compelling, responsive, user-focused WordPress websites
- Customize WordPress themes, plugins, and front-end components with pixel-perfect implementation
- Convert UI/UX designs (e.g., Figma) into functional, interactive interfaces
- Implement custom JavaScript functionality to improve usability, engagement, and performance
- Optimize for speed, SEO, accessibility, and cross-browser/device compatibility
- Collaborate with back-end developers for API integrations and efficient front-end workflows
- Build and maintain custom WordPress solutions using best practices (themes, plugins, hooks, actions, REST APIs)
- Troubleshoot, test, and improve site functionality, reliability, and performance
- Use Git-based source control workflows (e.g., GitHub/GitLab)
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and optimization
- Partner with design and client teams to align with brand goals and user expectations
- Contribute creative ideas to improve digital experiences
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional WordPress front-end development
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3 skills; strong responsive development practices
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, or Foundation
- Advanced knowledge of custom WordPress theme and plugin development and coding standards
- Strong UI/UX understanding and modern web design trends
- Ability to convert designs from Figma (or similar) into interactive interfaces
- Hands-on experience with WooCommerce, custom post types, WordPress actions/hooks, and REST APIs
- Strong debugging, testing, and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and proactive, collaborative mindset
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Headless WordPress or hybrid JavaScript-based front-end architectures
- Knowledge of SEO and website performance best practices
- Prior experience in a creative agency or digital product environment
- Familiarity with React or other modern JavaScript frameworks
