Role overview

INflow Federal is seeking a Front-End Developer (UI/UX) – Journeyman to design, develop, and optimize responsive user interfaces for a secure enterprise case management and reporting platform supporting DoD stakeholders. The role supports iterative Agile development cycles to improve usability, accessibility, and performance across multiple IL-tier environments.

Fully remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Translate user and business requirements into modern, responsive UI using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Apply User-Centered Design (UCD) and Human-Centered Design (HCD) to improve usability and accessibility.
  • Work with stakeholders to create journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Ensure UI components meet Section 508, WCAG 2.x, and DoD Manual 8400.01 requirements.
  • Deliver cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility and optimize performance for low bandwidth/high latency environments.
  • Perform UI/UX performance testing and benchmarking, and document findings for iterative improvements.
  • Support integration of case management and reporting workflows via intuitive layouts and data visualizations.
  • Coordinate with backend/data teams to ensure seamless integration with system APIs.
  • Improve load times and scalability using data compression, caching, and image optimization techniques.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, reviews, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous design improvements.
  • Maintain version control practices using repositories such as AWS CodeCommit or GitHub Enterprise.
  • Contribute input to documentation and UI/UX design standards.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and at least one modern framework (React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Experience building accessible, responsive, modular front-end components in Agile environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD/federal digital service standards, data visualization, and iterative delivery.
  • Experience with design/prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON integration, and data-driven UI components.
  • Familiarity with front-end accessibility and performance testing tools (e.g., Axe, SortSite).
  • Understanding of UI/UX testing methodologies, including A/B testing and user feedback loops.
  • Strong collaboration/communication skills with design and technical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail focused on usability, simplicity, and accessibility.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver quality UI components under Agile timelines.
