Front End Developer

Role Overview

Front End Developer (2 positions) for a 6+ month contract. This role is 100% remote, working EST hours, building the front-end experience for AI-powered chatbots and related conversational interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI conversation flows and UI behavior, integrating with external APIs via cloud functions or other system integrations.
• Collaborate with UI designers and backend/integration teams to ensure the conversational AI solution meets intent and usage requirements.
• Work with developers to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain chatbot applications.
• Leverage AI, NLP, and cognitive/machine learning to build chatbot user experiences.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years professional development experience.
• 1+ year building AI-powered chatbots from scratch using AI/ML/NLP.
• Knowledge of IBM Watson and other chatbot development platforms.
• Strong understanding of conversational design (flows, responses) and automated speech recognition, including SSML tagging for TTS.
• Knowledge of the AI/chatbot development landscape, tools, and supporting frameworks.
• Clean coding skills and best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, unit testing, and source code management.
• Knowledge of cloud development/deployment principles.
• Experience with Agile development and DevOps approaches.
• Understanding of end-to-end software development and business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Backend/server-side experience with Java or Node.js.
• Multi-language experience including Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with IBM Voice Gateway and/or IBM Discovery.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Build, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain chatbot features across front-end and conversational AI integrations.
