About the role
Role Overview
GrabJobs is hiring a Front-End Developer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a technical authority for front-end architecture and federal accessibility compliance. You will shape the UI for IRS taxpayer-facing applications, ensuring responsive, intuitive, and accessible web experiences.

Responsibilities
- Lead front-end architecture and technical approach for scalable, reusable UI components
- Guide implementation of responsive, accessible, user-friendly interfaces using React/JavaScript/HTML/CSS
- Ensure compliance with federal accessibility standards via rigorous code reviews and best practices:
- USWDS, ODG, WCAG 2.2 AA
- Collaborate with product owners, UI/UX designers, back-end developers, and stakeholders
- Optimize front-end performance
- Integrate APIs securely
- Support CI/CD using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins
- Mentor junior developers and promote accessibility and security best practices
- Act as a liaison across the Agile lifecycle to align design, accessibility, and development teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years front-end development experience
- 7+ years in senior/SME roles (IT or government projects)
- Deep expertise in:
- React
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- HTML5
- CSS3
- Cloud environments such as AWS and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of federal design standards (USWDS, ODG) and WCAG 2.2 AA
- Ability to develop scalable, reusable UI component libraries
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (and eligibility for higher investigations if needed)
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and deploying enterprise-scale web applications
- AWS certifications
- Agile certifications
- Security credentials and accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS)
Salary / Benefits
- $140,000–$165,000 annually (commensurate with experience/skills/certifications)
