Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role

Freelance Mobile App Developer for the Tendem project (Mindrift). Build native and cross-platform mobile applications for real-world use cases on iOS and/or Android.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications across categories (utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
• Develop apps using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect to backend APIs; handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization where needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Debug, optimize, and refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
• Resolve platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native, Flutter, Swift/SwiftUI (iOS), or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Strong understanding of mobile UI patterns, navigation, state management, and platform guidelines
• Experience integrating REST APIs, async data handling, and local storage
• Experience with mobile build tooling, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submission
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store/Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency B2+ (required)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Firebase, Supabase, or similar backend services
• Experience with in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT or related field

Logistics

• Part-time remote
• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases

Compensation

• Up to $60/hour equivalent, depending on level and pace of contribution
