About the role
Role Overview
Freelance Mobile App Developer to join the Tendem project at Mindrift. This is a part-time remote role building mobile applications for iOS, Android, or both using native or cross-platform frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile apps across domains (e.g., utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
- Build and maintain apps using React Native, Flutter, Swift/SwiftUI (iOS), or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Create responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
- Connect applications to backend APIs; handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
- Implement monetization features when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review, debug, optimize, and refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Hands-on experience with at least one:
- React Native or Flutter or Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Strong knowledge of mobile UI patterns, navigation, and state management
- Experience integrating REST APIs and handling async data
- Experience managing local storage
- Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and submitting to App Store / Google Play
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
- English proficiency B2 or above
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with monetization (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/related field
Time Commitment
- Estimated 10–20 hours per week during active phases (not guaranteed)
Compensation
- Up to $60/hour equivalent, depending on level and pace of contribution
