About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is looking for a Freelance Mobile App Developer to join the Tendem project and build native and cross-platform mobile applications for real-world use cases. This is a part-time remote freelance role focused on shipping stable, performant, and user-friendly iOS and/or Android apps.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications for categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content
- Build apps using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
- Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
- Connect to backend APIs; handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
- Implement monetization when required: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
- Debug, optimize, and refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Resolve platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Hands-on experience shipping iOS and/or Android apps
- Ability to integrate platform APIs and work through the full mobile development lifecycle
- Strong attention to detail and performance/stability mindset
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
- English proficiency at B2 or above
Nice to Have
- Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT (BS/MS preferred)
- Experience with REST APIs, async data handling, and local storage
- Familiarity with device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submissions
- Monetization implementation experience (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Backend familiarity with Firebase, Supabase, or similar
Workload & Compensation
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (not guaranteed)
- Compensation: up to $60/hour equivalent depending on level and pace of contribution
