About the role
Role overview
Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer for the Tendem project to build native and cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and/or Android. You’ll work on stable, performant, user-friendly apps across categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
- Implement responsive UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features (e.g., camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
- Connect apps to backend APIs and support offline state, caching, and sync
- Implement monetization features when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review, debug, optimize, and refactor code for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Hands-on experience with at least one of:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift/SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Strong knowledge of mobile UI patterns, navigation, state management, and platform guidelines
- Experience integrating REST APIs, handling async data, and managing local storage
- Experience with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
- Familiarity with build/submission workflows (code signing, App Store / Google Play)
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (App Store / Google Play links preferred)
- English proficiency B2 or above (required)
- Self-directed ability to ship complete features independently
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Firebase, Supabase, or similar backend services
- Experience implementing in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a related technical field
Logistics & expectations
- Part-time remote (estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases)
- Freelance contractor role for the Tendem project
Compensation
- Up to $60/hour equivalent depending on level and contribution pace.
