About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer for the Tendem project to build native and cross-platform iOS and Android apps. This is a part-time remote opportunity where you’ll work across the mobile development lifecycle, shipping stable, performant, user-friendly mobile experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications for categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content
- Build apps using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
- Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
- Connect to backend REST APIs; handle offline state, caching, and sync
- Implement monetization when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review, debug, optimize, and refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Fix platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Hands-on experience with at least one of:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Strong understanding of mobile UI patterns, navigation, and state management
- Experience integrating REST APIs, async data handling, and local storage
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and submission to App Store / Google Play
- Experience with monetization (in-app purchases/ads/subscriptions) is a plus
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (App Store / Google Play links preferred; required)
- English proficiency (B2 or above)
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
- Experience with Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI, and/or performance-focused mobile engineering
Time Commitment & Compensation
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases
- Compensation: up to $60/hour equivalent depending on level and pace of contribution
