About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (the company calls this role an AI Pilot) for the Tendem project. You will build and refine native and cross-platform mobile applications (iOS, Android, or both) while collaborating with AI agents that handle repetitive tasks. Your work ensures apps are stable, performant, and production-ready for real users on real devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile apps across categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content
- Implement mobile UIs that follow platform conventions:
- iOS HIG and/or Material Design
- Integrate native device features (e.g., camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
- Connect apps to backend APIs; implement offline state, caching, and sync
- Implement monetization features when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for:
- correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare releases for distribution:
- TestFlight and Play Console
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience
- Hands-on experience building production mobile apps for iOS and/or Android
- Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, navigation, and state management
- Ability to integrate REST APIs, work with async data, and manage local storage
- Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store submission
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (App Store / Google Play links preferred)
- English proficiency (B2 or above)
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with one or more of:
- React Native, Flutter, Swift/SwiftUI (iOS), Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Experience integrating/using backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
- Experience implementing monetization (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science or related technical fields
Time Commitment & Compensation
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (estimate only)
- Compensation listed as up to $60/hour (hourly rate)
