Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer for the Tendem project. This AI Pilot role involves collaborating with “Tendem Agents” that handle repetitive tasks, while you apply mobile engineering expertise to build, refine, and quality-check native and cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and/or Android.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile apps across categories (e.g., utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
• Develop using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive mobile UIs aligned with platform conventions:
  • iOS: iOS HIG
  • Android: Material Design
• Integrate native device features (as needed): camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect apps to backend APIs; implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization features where required (e.g., in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Evaluate AI-generated mobile code and refactor for:
  • correctness, performance, battery usage, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare releases for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Strong foundation in mobile app development and platform-specific UI/UX patterns
• Ability to confidently work with native or cross-platform frameworks and ship stable, high-quality mobile experiences
• Ability to integrate platform APIs and backend services and refine AI-assisted output into production-ready apps
• Strong attention to detail and performance awareness; ability to work independently
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift/SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid understanding of mobile UI patterns, navigation, and state management
• Experience integrating REST APIs, handling async data, and managing local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app submission to App Store / Google Play
• Experience implementing monetization (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions) is a plus
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps with App Store / Google Play links preferred (required)
• English proficiency: Upper-intermediate (B2) or above (required)

Time Expectations

• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (not guaranteed; only while the project is active)

Contract / Compensation

• Freelance role (Tendem project)
• Compensation: up to $60/hour (hourly rate)
