Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (an “AI Pilot”) for the Tendem project. In this role, you’ll build and refine native and cross-platform mobile applications (iOS and/or Android) while collaborating with AI agents that handle repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications across categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content
• Develop using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive mobile UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device capabilities: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect apps to backend APIs; handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization features when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Review and evaluate AI-generated mobile code, refactoring for correctness, performance, battery use, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Strong mobile foundation including platform-specific UI/UX patterns and shipping stable, high-quality iOS/Android experiences
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift/SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid understanding of mobile UI, navigation, and state management
• Experience integrating REST APIs, async data handling, and local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submission
• English proficiency: B2 (Upper-intermediate) or above (required)
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps with App Store / Google Play links preferred (required)

Nice-to-Haves

• Degree in CS/Engineering/IT (BS or MS preferred)
• Experience implementing in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
