Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer to join the Tendem project. In this role (called an AI Pilot at Mindrift), you’ll collaborate with “Tendem Agents” that handle repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise to design, build, and QA native and cross-platform mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile apps for iOS, Android, or both across categories like utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content
• Build with one or more of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift (iOS)
  • Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect to backend APIs and implement offline handling, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization features when needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
• Troubleshoot platform-specific issues and prepare releases for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant mobile application development experience (required)
• Experience shipping iOS and/or Android apps, including platform APIs and the full mobile dev lifecycle
• Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, stable app delivery, and platform guidelines
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native, Flutter, Swift/SwiftUI, or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose
• Solid understanding of mobile navigation, state management, and platform conventions
• Experience integrating REST APIs, working with async data, and managing local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build/release workflows (code signing, App Store / Google Play submissions)
• Ability to work independently and with strong attention to detail
• Portfolio of shipped apps (App Store / Google Play links preferred) (required)
• English proficiency: B2 or above (required)

Nice to Haves

• Experience with monetization (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Familiarity with backend services like Firebase or Supabase
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field (CS/Engineering/IT)

Logistics / Timing

• Part-time remote opportunity
• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (estimate, not guaranteed)

Compensation

• Up to $60/hour
