About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is hiring a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android) for the Tendem project. In this role (“AI Pilot”), you collaborate with Tendem Agents that handle repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise, platform judgment, and quality control to deliver stable, performant apps for real devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile apps across categories (e.g., utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content) for iOS, Android, or both.
- Build using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android).
- Create responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design).
- Integrate native device features (camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics).
- Connect to backend APIs; implement offline state, caching, and synchronization.
- Add monetization features when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions).
- Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery usage, and maintainability.
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare releases for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console).
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required).
- Hands-on experience shipping iOS and/or Android apps.
- Strong foundation in mobile development lifecycle, platform UI/UX patterns, and stable, high-quality mobile experiences.
- Ability to work independently.
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred).
- English proficiency: B2 or above (required).
Nice-to-haves
- Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT or related field.
- Experience with REST APIs, async data, and local storage.
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submissions.
- Monetization experience (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions).
- Familiarity with backend services like Firebase or Supabase.
Time Expectations & Compensation
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases.
- Compensation: up to $60/hour.
