About the role
Role Overview
Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android) for the Tendem project. At Mindrift, this position is called an AI Pilot: you collaborate with Tendem Agents for repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise, platform judgment, and quality control to deliver stable, high-performing apps for real devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications for utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content apps
- Build with one or more of: React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android)
- Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
- Connect to backend APIs; implement offline mode, caching, and synchronization
- Add monetization features when needed: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
- Review and refactor AI-generated mobile code for correctness, performance, battery use, and maintainability
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare/distribute builds (e.g., TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Degree in a related technical field (CS/Engineering/IT) is a plus
- Strong foundation in mobile development and platform-specific UI/UX patterns
- Ability to work independently and deliver production-ready apps
- Attention to detail and performance awareness
Nice-to-Haves
- Hands-on experience with at least one:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Experience with:
- Mobile navigation, state management
- REST APIs and async data
- Local storage
- Native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, biometrics)
- Build/distribution workflows, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submission
- Monetization (in-app purchases/ads/subscriptions)
- Backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
- English proficiency: B2 or above (required)
Workload & Compensation
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (not guaranteed)
- Compensation: up to $60/hour
