Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS/Android) for the Tendem project. In this role (called an AI Pilot), you will collaborate with AI agents handling repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise to ensure apps are stable, performant, and ready for real users on real devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications for iOS, Android, or both (utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
• Build with React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features (camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
• Connect to backend APIs and handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization when needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Review AI-generated code, refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT or related field (Bachelor’s/Master’s is a plus)
• Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, platform conventions, and delivering stable mobile experiences
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid understanding of navigation, state management, and mobile patterns
• Experience integrating REST APIs, working with async data, and managing local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store submission
• English proficiency (B2+)
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (App Store/Google Play links preferred) (required)

Nice to Haves

• Experience with monetization features (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
