About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is hiring a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android) for the Tendem project. In this role (called an AI Pilot at Mindrift), you’ll collaborate with Tendem Agents for repetitive tasks, while you apply mobile engineering expertise to ensure apps are stable, performant, and ready for real users on real devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications (utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content) for iOS, Android, or both
- Build using one or more of:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Create responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features (camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
- Connect to backend APIs; implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
- Add monetization features where needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review and refactor AI-generated mobile code for correctness, performance, battery use, and maintainability
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, navigation, state management, and delivering stable high-quality mobile experiences
- Experience integrating REST APIs, handling async data, and managing local storage
- Hands-on familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store / play submission
- Experience with at least one of: React Native, Flutter, Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (required)
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (App Store / Google Play links preferred; required)
- English proficiency (B2 or above) (required)
Nice to Haves
- Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT (BS/MS) or related field
- Experience implementing in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
- Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
Logistics
- Part-time remote; estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (estimate only)
Compensation
- Up to $60/hour
