About the role
Role overview
Mindrift is hiring a Freelance Mobile App Developer (AI Pilot) for the Tendem project. You’ll build and refine native and cross-platform mobile applications (iOS, Android, or both), collaborating with Tendem Agents that handle repetitive tasks while you apply mobile engineering expertise, platform judgment, and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications for categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content apps
- Build with React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
- Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
- Connect apps to backend APIs and manage offline state, caching, and synchronization
- Implement monetization features as needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review and refactor AI-generated mobile code for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Diagnose platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, navigation, and state management
- Ability to integrate device APIs and backend services; refine AI-assisted output into production-ready apps
- Solid experience with at least one of:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Experience with REST APIs, async data handling, and local storage
- Familiarity with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store submission
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to performance and stability
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
- English proficiency B2 or above (required)
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
- Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field
Working time & compensation
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (estimate, not guaranteed)
- Freelance compensation: up to $60 per hour
