About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS/Android) to join the Tendem project. In this role (called an AI Pilot), you collaborate with Tendem Agents for repetitive tasks while applying your mobile engineering expertise to deliver stable, performant, production-ready apps on real devices.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications across categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content.
- Build using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android) (native or cross-platform).
- Create responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions:
- iOS HIG
- Material Design
- Integrate native device capabilities (e.g., camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics).
- Connect to backend APIs; implement offline behavior, caching, and synchronization.
- Add monetization when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions).
- Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for:
- correctness
- performance
- battery usage
- maintainability
- Troubleshoot platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution:
- TestFlight
- Play Console
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required).
- B2+ English proficiency (required).
- Strong foundation in:
- mobile application development
- platform-specific UI/UX patterns
- stable, high-quality iOS/Android experiences
- Hands-on experience with at least one of:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Solid understanding of mobile UI patterns, navigation, state management, and platform guidelines.
- Experience integrating REST APIs, async data, and local storage.
- Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics).
- Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store submissions.
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred).
- Ability to work independently and ship complete features.
Nice to Have
- Degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field.
- Monetization experience: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions.
- Backend familiarity: Firebase, Supabase, or similar.
- Experience with SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose specifically.
Schedule & Workload
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (estimate only; not guaranteed).
Compensation
- Up to $60/hour.
