About the role

Role overview

Mindrift is hiring a Freelance Mobile App Developer (AI Pilot) to join the Tendem project and help build native and cross-platform mobile applications in a hybrid AI + human environment. You’ll collaborate with Tendem Agents for repetitive work, while you apply mobile engineering judgment to ensure apps are stable, performant, and production-ready for real users.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and refine mobile apps across categories (e.g., utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
Build using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
Integrate native device capabilities: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
Connect to backend APIs; implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
Implement monetization when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
Review and refactor AI-generated code for correctness, performance, battery use, and maintainability
Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
Strong mobile fundamentals including UI/UX patterns, navigation, and state management
Hands-on experience with at least one:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift/SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
Experience integrating REST APIs, async data, and local storage
Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
Experience with build tools, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submission
Experience implementing in-app purchases / ads / subscriptions (a plus)
Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase (a plus)
Upper-intermediate English (B2) or above (required)
Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)

Time expectations

Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (not guaranteed), for as long as the project is active.

Contract & compensation

Freelance role for the Tendem project.
Compensation: up to $60/hour (as stated in the posting).
