About the role
Role Overview
Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS/Android) for the Tendem project. In this role (called an AI Pilot), you collaborate with Tendem Agents for repetitive tasks while you apply mobile engineering expertise to deliver stable, performant apps ready for real devices.
What You’ll Build
- Mobile apps across categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content
- Target iOS, Android, or both
- Use native or cross-platform approaches depending on project needs
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile applications
- Build with one or more of:
- React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android)
- Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
- Integrate native device features (e.g., camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
- Connect to backend APIs and implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
- Implement monetization when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
- Review AI-generated code, refactor for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
- Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX patterns, navigation, and state management
- Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs, handling async data, and managing local storage
- Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
- Experience with mobile build/release workflow (e.g., code signing, submission to App Store / Google Play)
- Ability to work independently and ship complete features
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
- English proficiency (B2 or higher) (required)
Nice to Have
- Degree in CS/Engineering/IT (BS/MS)
- Experience with React Native, Flutter, SwiftUI, and/or Kotlin + Jetpack Compose (at least one required)
- Familiarity with backend services like Firebase or Supabase
- Experience implementing in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
Time Commitment
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (estimate only)
Compensation
- Up to $60/hour (freelance/contributor rate; exact terms not fully shown)
