Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android) for the Tendem project. In this role (“AI Pilot”), you’ll collaborate with Tendem Agents handling repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise, platform-specific judgment, and quality control to deliver stable, high-performing apps for real devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications across categories (utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content) for iOS, Android, or both
• Build apps using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features (camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
• Connect apps to backend APIs and implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization features when required (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Evaluate AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery use, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare releases (e.g., TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, navigation, and state management
• Experience integrating REST APIs, handling async data, and managing local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app submission to App Store / Google Play
• Hands-on experience with at least one:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Strong attention to detail and performance/stability mindset
• Self-directed ability to work independently and ship complete features
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency: Upper-intermediate (B2) or above (required)

Nice to Have

• Experience implementing monetization: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related technical field

Time Commitment

• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (estimate, not guaranteed)
