Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS/Android) for the Tendem project. At Mindrift, this position is called an AI Pilot: you collaborate with AI agents for repetitive work while applying your mobile engineering expertise to deliver stable, performant, production-ready apps.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications for categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content apps
• Build using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate device capabilities: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect apps to backend APIs; handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization features when required: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery usage, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s) is a plus
• Strong foundation in mobile app development and platform-specific UI/UX patterns
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, performance awareness, and quality
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid understanding of mobile UI patterns, navigation, state management, and platform guidelines
• Experience integrating REST APIs, async data handling, and local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tooling, code signing, and submitting to App Store / Google Play
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency at B2 or above (required)

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience implementing in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase, Supabase, or similar

Time Expectations

• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (estimate not guaranteed)

Compensation

• Up to $60/hour
