Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer for the Tendem project. In this role (“AI Pilot”), you will build and refine native and cross-platform mobile applications while collaborating with Tendem Agents that handle repetitive tasks. The work emphasizes mobile engineering expertise, platform-specific judgment, and quality control to deliver stable, performant apps for real devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile apps across categories (e.g., utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
• Build with React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect to backend APIs and handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization when needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery usage, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Hands-on shipping experience for iOS and/or Android
• Strong foundation in mobile app development, including platform UI/UX patterns and delivering stable mobile experiences
• Ability to work with native or cross-platform frameworks and integrate device APIs + backend services
• Strong attention to detail, performance awareness, and ability to work independently
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid understanding of UI patterns, navigation, state management, and platform guidelines
• Experience integrating REST APIs, working with async data, and managing local storage
• Familiarity with mobile build tools, code signing, and submitting to App Store / Google Play
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency: Upper-intermediate (B2) or above (required)

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT or related
• Experience implementing monetization: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
• Monetization and backend integration experience

Workload & Location

• Part-time: estimated 10–20 hours per week during active phases
• Remote opportunity (time expectations apply only while the project is active)

Compensation

• Earn up to $60/hour (hourly rate; capped maximum stated).
