Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer to work on the Tendem project. In this AI Pilot role, you’ll collaborate with AI agents handling repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise to deliver stable, performant mobile apps for iOS and/or Android.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications for categories such as utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, and content apps
• Build with React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android) (native or cross-platform)
• Create responsive UIs that follow platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect to backend APIs and implement offline support, caching, and synchronization
• Add monetization when required: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Review and refactor AI-generated code for correctness, performance, battery efficiency, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare releases for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant mobile development experience (required)
• Strong foundation in mobile app development and platform-specific UI/UX patterns
• Ability to integrate platform APIs and backend services and refine AI-assisted output into production-ready apps
• Strong attention to detail, performance awareness, and ability to work independently
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift/SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid knowledge of mobile UI patterns, navigation, and state management
• Experience integrating REST APIs, handling async data, and managing local storage
• Experience with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store submission
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required, App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency B2 or above (required)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience implementing in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a related technical field

Time expectation

• Estimated 10–20 hours per week during active phases (estimate; not guaranteed)

Location / work model

• Part-time remote opportunity (posting references Queens, NY for the role), with real-device testing and platform release responsibilities.
