Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role overview

Mindrift is looking for Freelance Mobile App Developers (an “AI Pilot” role) to join the Tendem project and build mobile apps in a hybrid AI + human environment. You’ll collaborate with Tendem Agents that handle repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise to ensure apps are stable, performant, and production-ready.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications (utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content), for iOS, Android, or both
• Build using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect apps to backend APIs and handle offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization when required: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Evaluate AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery use, maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field (plus)
• Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns and shipping stable iOS/Android experiences
• Ability to work independently and with strong attention to detail, performance awareness, and quality control
• Hands-on experience with at least one:
  • React Native or Flutter or Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Experience integrating REST APIs, async data, and local storage
• Familiarity with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build tools, code signing, and app store submissions (App Store / Google Play)
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency B2+ (required)

Nice to have

• Experience with monetization: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase

Working time & compensation

• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (not guaranteed; project-active only)
• Compensation: up to $60/hour (hourly)
