Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is hiring a Freelance Mobile App Developer (AI Pilot) for the Tendem project. In this role, you’ll collaborate with AI “agents” that handle repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise, platform judgment, and quality control to ensure apps are stable, performant, and ready for real devices and users.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications (utilities, fitness/wellness, games, productivity, delivery, content)
  • Target iOS, Android, or both
  • Use native or cross-platform frameworks
• Build apps with React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design)
• Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics
• Connect to backend APIs and implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization when required: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions
• Review AI-generated mobile code and refactor for correctness, performance, battery usage, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare distribution builds (TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required)
• Solid foundation in mobile app development, including platform UI/UX patterns and shipping stable mobile experiences
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Experience with:
  • Mobile UI patterns, navigation, and state management
  • Integrating REST APIs and handling async data
  • Managing local storage
  • Native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
  • Mobile build tooling, code signing, and submitting to App Store / Google Play
• Familiarity with monetization (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions) is a plus
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency (B2 or above)

Nice to Have

• Experience with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
• Experience with monetization implementations
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field

Time Commitment & Contracting

• Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (estimate only; not a guaranteed workload)
• Part-time remote freelance role

Compensation

• Up to $60 per hour.
