Role Overview
Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (AI Pilot) for the Tendem project. You’ll build and refine native and cross-platform mobile applications in a hybrid environment where AI agents handle repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise, platform-specific judgment, and quality control to deliver stable, performant apps for real devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine mobile apps for iOS, Android, or both using native or cross-platform frameworks.
- Build responsive mobile UIs following platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design).
- Integrate native device features: camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics.
- Connect apps to backend APIs; handle offline state, caching, and synchronization.
- Implement monetization when needed: in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions.
- Review and evaluate AI-generated mobile code, refactoring for correctness, performance (including battery use), and maintainability.
- Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (TestFlight, Play Console).
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience (required).
- Hands-on experience shipping iOS and/or Android apps.
- Strong foundation in mobile app development and platform-specific UI/UX patterns.
- Ability to work independently and ship complete features.
- Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required, App Store / Google Play links preferred).
- English proficiency at Upper-intermediate (B2) or above (required).
Nice to Have
- BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering/IT (or related) (plus).
- Experience with one or more of:
- React Native
- Flutter
- Swift/SwiftUI (iOS)
- Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
- Experience integrating REST APIs, async data, and local storage.
- Familiarity with build tools, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submission.
- Monetization experience (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions).
- Familiarity with backend services like Firebase or Supabase.
Project Expectations
- Estimated 10–20 hours/week during active phases (estimate, not a guaranteed workload).
Compensation
- Up to $60/hour.
