Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android)

Role Overview

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mobile App Developer (iOS / Android) for the Tendem project. In this role (“AI Pilot”), you will collaborate with AI agents that handle repetitive tasks, while you provide mobile engineering expertise to ensure the resulting apps are stable, performant, and production-ready on real devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications for iOS, Android, or both (native or cross-platform)
• Build apps using React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), or Kotlin (Android)
• Create responsive UIs that follow iOS HIG and Material Design conventions
• Integrate native device features (camera, push notifications, location, storage, biometrics)
• Connect to backend APIs; implement offline state, caching, and synchronization
• Implement monetization features when needed (in-app purchases, ads, subscriptions)
• Review and refactor AI-generated code for correctness, performance, battery usage, and maintainability
• Debug platform-specific issues and prepare builds for distribution (e.g., TestFlight, Play Console)

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant mobile app development experience
• Strong foundation in mobile UI/UX patterns, platform conventions, and delivering high-quality iOS/Android experiences
• Hands-on experience with at least one of:
  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
  • Kotlin / Jetpack Compose (Android)
• Solid understanding of navigation, state management, and async data integration
• Experience integrating REST APIs and managing local storage
• Experience with native device APIs (notifications, camera, location, storage, biometrics)
• Experience with mobile build/distribution workflows (code signing; App Store / Google Play submissions)
• Portfolio of shipped mobile apps (required; App Store / Google Play links preferred)
• English proficiency: B2+

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with in-app purchases / ads / subscriptions
• Familiarity with backend services such as Firebase or Supabase
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field

Time & Compensation

• Estimated workload: 10–20 hours/week during active project phases (not guaranteed; estimate only)
• Compensation: up to $60 per hour (hourly rate cap indicated)
