Founding Engineer

Role: Founding Engineer (AI Agents + Frontend Craft)

Founding Engineer for a remote (U.S.) team building AI infrastructure for trial attorneys. You’ll own key parts of the product—especially the primary AI interface on the frontend—while also going deep on agent architecture and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship full-stack features spanning React, Next.js, TypeScript, backend services, and AI systems.
• Own frontend craft for the main AI user interface, delivering polished UX.
• Design and implement agent systems, including:
  • orchestrators and sub-agents
  • tool-use patterns
  • evaluation loops and reliability mechanisms
• Develop AI features for litigation workflows, including:
  • document extraction
  • RAG pipelines
  • anti-hallucination scaffolding / reliability guardrails
• Integrate and deploy third-party tools end-to-end, including systems such as Clio and iManage (plus others), covering scoping → implementation → deployment.
• Collaborate with a small team to improve stability, performance, and delivery velocity.
• Contribute to backend optimization and system upgrades for reliability at scale.

Requirements

• Strong full-stack fundamentals with excellent frontend craft (React/Next.js/TypeScript).
• Practical experience with agentic systems (or strong ability to learn quickly) including tool-use patterns, orchestration, retrieval, and evaluation loops.
• Experience owning third-party API/system integrations (auth, rate limits, edge cases, monitoring).
• “Ship it” mindset: iterate quickly without sacrificing quality; explain what you built.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and excited by early-stage ownership.
• Clear, direct, collaborative communication.

• Founding/early-stage experience or similar high-ownership environment.

Work authorization / Location

• Remote U.S., strong preference for NYC.
• 4+ hours daily overlap with Eastern Time.
• No visa sponsorship (H1B transfers and TNs only).
