Forward Deployed Engineer | Merchandising

Role Overview

You’ll be a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) on the Merchandising team at RELEX, embedded directly in a customer’s environment. Your job is to configure, extend, and build on the RELEX platform for that customer’s real operational context, ensuring their supply chain measurably runs better.

The role is designed to be on-site for meaningful stretches, especially around discovery and go-live, so willingness to travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery end-to-end from discovery through go-live: configuration, extensions, integrations, and delivery quality into the customer’s instance.
• Prove and communicate impact by instrumenting deployments, measuring outcomes vs. the customer baseline, and presenting evidence to operational users and executives.
• Own the technical customer relationship by learning customer operations deeply enough to challenge requirements and resolve new issues quickly.
• Feed the product: capture gaps and field use cases, prototype solutions, and help them graduate into the RELEX roadmap.
• Build customer self-sufficiency via knowledge transfer and clean handovers so customers can operate and extend RELEX without you.
• Grow accounts by surfacing adjacent use cases, new sites, and unused capabilities; partner with pre-sales and the account team to shape technical solutions and value cases.
• Support commercial activity with feasibility assessments, proofs of concept, and technical demos.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience designing and building production software across the full stack.
• Strong understanding of system design, observability, and hypothesis-driven development.
• Experience building integrations for downstream and/or customer-facing systems.
• Solid working knowledge of cloud platforms and modern application stacks.
• Strong business acumen: translate technical work into measurable financial impact and communicate clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable managing ambiguity and taking full ownership (strong ownership mindset).
