About the role

Role overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work in a product-oriented team designing, building, and improving end-to-end workflows (e.g., surveying/inspection) within Auterion’s software ecosystem. You will help create scalable, user-friendly features tightly integrated with Auterion Mission Control and AuterionOS.

Responsibilities

Develop new applications and enhance existing software running on Auterion’s onboard Linux computer (Mission Computer)
Collaborate with engineering and program management to define and implement customer requirements
Become a subject-matter expert in AuterionOS app development
Help drive AuterionOS architecture across application development workflows, middleware, and software architecture
Work daily with C++ in a Linux environment
Write clear, maintainable, well-documented code and collaborate via Git
Participate in development planning and prioritization

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of software development experience
Proficiency in C++ development on Linux
Working knowledge of L2/L3 networking principles
Experience writing modular software using modern design practices
Detail-oriented with strong technical documentation and communication skills
Practical experience with containerization (e.g., Docker)
Understanding of C++ build systems (e.g., CMake), dependency management, and cross compilation
EU citizenship required

Nice to have

Familiarity with the Linux kernel and its interaction with hardware
