Forward Deployed Engineer

Role Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) on Anthropic’s Applied AI team, you embed with strategic enterprise customers to drive transformational AI adoption. You work alongside customer teams, and closely with Anthropic’s Post-Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, to ship production AI applications using Claude models while maintaining high standards for safety and reliability.

You will help shape Anthropic’s forward-deployed motion as one of the founding FDEs—operating autonomously, thriving in ambiguity, and representing the company at the highest level in customer environments.

Responsibilities

• Build production applications within customer systems using Claude models.
• Deliver technical artifacts for production workflows, including MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills.
• Provide white-glove deployment support for enterprise environments.
• Identify and codify repeatable deployment patterns, and feed insights back to Product and Engineering.
• Stay current on LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development stacks.
• Develop long-term customer relationships and proactively find new AI deployment opportunities.
• Travel frequently (25–50%) to customer sites to work in person.
• Champion Anthropic’s mission in the field.

Requirements

• 4+ years in a technical, customer-facing role (e.g., FDE) or software engineering with consulting experience; technical founders also encouraged.
• Native French speaker with fluent English.
• Production experience with LLMs, including:
  • advanced prompt engineering
  • agent development
  • evaluation frameworks
  • deployment at scale
• Strong programming skills, with Python required (and ideally TypeScript and/or Java), plus experience shipping production applications.
• High agency and ability to navigate ambiguity in complex organizations.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration mindset.
• Passion for building safe, beneficial AI through creative technical applications.
• Excellent communication skills for customer discovery and conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Background in financial services or healthcare/life sciences (or other enterprise verticals).
• Experience with enterprise IT systems and/or AI deployment patterns.
