Role overview

Flutter/Hybrid Mobile Developer (contract)

• Fully remote role supporting mobile applications for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), specifically Transportation Security Administration (TSA) products (e.g., MyTSA / TSA Verify).
• You will support legacy iOS/Android codebases and help build and enhance new mobile apps.
• US citizenship required, with active TSA Public Trust or DHS Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary engineering support for legacy native iOS and Android codebases (e.g., UIKit, Storyboards, Auto Layout, XML layouts, data binding, backward compatibility).
• Build new mobile applications end-to-end: architecture design, environment setup, release planning, and deployment.
• Enhance and maintain public-facing DHS/TSA mobile apps with a focus on performance, security, and defect resolution.
• Operate within TSA mobile development protocols, documentation standards, and governance processes.
• Maintain/improve CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, signing, and deployments.
• Manage app distribution through TSA Enterprise App Distribution, including submission/review workflows for Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Implement Firebase services, especially push notifications/messaging.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, security, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver iterative improvements.
• Use Git for version control, code reviews, and branching/collaboration.
• Apply mobile UX/UI principles and ensure accessibility compliance (including Section 508).

Requirements

• 2–4 years of hands-on native mobile development for iOS and Android.
• Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C (iOS), and Kotlin and Java (Android).
• Experience supporting/extending legacy mobile UI implementations.
• Strong understanding of mobile application lifecycle, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and app deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with Firebase, including Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
• Active TSA Public Trust or DHS Public Trust clearance and ability to maintain it.
• Collaboration skills within Agile teams.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and branching strategies.
• Understanding of accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with cloud services.
• Experience with RESTful APIs.
• Prior experience supporting TSA mobile applications such as MyTSA and TSA Verify.
