Fire Technician

Role overview

FIFO Fire Technician (1 week on / 1 week off) supporting a major client site at Groote Eylandt (GEMCO Sth32). Based in Darwin, you will work a 7/7 FIFO roster, flying from Darwin to site while maintaining compliance, reliability, and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Service, test, and maintain fire protection assets to Chubb standards (safety, quality, and delivery)
• Perform scheduled maintenance, defect remediation, and upgrade works
• Provide on-site customer service and technical support
• Complete required documentation using the client’s internal reporting system (GEMCO Sth32)
• Work with Darwin Fire Management on reporting, parts management, and workflow planning

Systems you will work on

• Fire Detection & Alarm Systems (e.g., Ampac)
• Sprinkler & Deluge Systems
• Gaseous Suppression Systems (e.g., Inergen / FM200)
• Fire Pump Sets
• VESDA / Aspiration Systems

Requirements

• Previous fire industry experience (preferred, not essential)
• Certificate II / Certificate III / FPAS in Fire Protection (or willingness to obtain)
• Current driver’s licence
• Ability to work FIFO on a 7/7 roster
• Ability to pass a Police Check and Medical
• Strong communication skills and customer-focused attitude
• Good time management and independence while working remotely
• Self-motivated, reliable, and safety-focused
