Role overview

FHIR Architect (Remote) — Contract role supporting healthcare interoperability initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data mapping for CMS interoperability mandates (e.g., Patient Access, Provider Directory, Payer-to-Payer)
• Translate regulatory and business requirements into FHIR-based data models and APIs
• Work across multiple FHIR Implementation Guides (e.g., US Core, Da Vinci IGs)
• Perform FHIR server/API work and data transformations to support integration needs
• Lead and mentor a team of business analysts
• Manage and communicate with business and technical stakeholders effectively

Requirements

• 13+ years of experience in the healthcare domain
• Deep expertise in HL7 FHIR including resources, profiles, and extensions
• Strong understanding of healthcare data standards and interoperability, including HL7 v2, CDA, and X12
• Proven experience with healthcare integration patterns
• Experience with FHIR servers, APIs, and data transformation tools
• Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills

Preferred / plus

• Experience in payer/provider data ecosystems and interoperability frameworks
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data architectures
