Executive Vice President of Global Engineering

Role Overview

VikingCloud is seeking an Executive Vice President of Global Engineering to lead worldwide software engineering and drive the next phase of a technology transformation. Reporting to the President & COO, you will own engineering strategy, architecture, software development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and global delivery.

The role emphasizes modernizing VikingCloud’s technology landscape by expanding the cloud-native Asgard platform and using agentic AI to consolidate and retire legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities

• AI-Driven Engineering Transformation

  • Lead adoption of agentic AI tools across the software development lifecycle (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, MCP-based agents).
  • Drive AI-assisted reverse engineering and modernization of legacy platforms into the Asgard architecture.
  • Define AI standards, governance, training, and hiring expectations; make AI fluency a core engineering competency.

• Engineering Leadership

  • Define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap.
  • Lead global teams across Software Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Infrastructure.
  • Scale/evolve the cloud-native Asgard platform and drive legacy consolidation and modernization.

• Architecture & Infrastructure

  • Own architectural decisions for scalable, cloud-native, multi-tenant platforms.
  • Oversee migration from fragmented Rackspace, AWS, and GCP environments into unified Google Cloud Platform.
  • Establish engineering governance, design standards, and technical review processes.

• Quality & Delivery

  • Automate manual QA into an AI-assisted testing and CI/CD release process.
  • Reduce release cycles from weeks to days and improve reliability, testing, and release quality.

• Engineering Operations

  • Build a metrics-driven organization with KPIs for quality, productivity, velocity, and operational health.
  • Improve delivery predictability, resource planning, vendor management, and cost optimization.

• Organizational Leadership

  • Strengthen engineering leadership and build global teams across the US, Europe, India, and other regions.
  • Optimize global operating models (including India-US and India-Europe collaboration).
  • Foster accountability, ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

• Executive Partnership

  • Partner with Product leadership to align engineering execution with business strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Operations.
  • Represent VikingCloud in executive presentations, customer meetings, escalations, and business development activities.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years progressive software engineering experience, with at least 8 years in senior engineering leadership (e.g., VP Engineering/CTO/SVP Engineering or equivalent).
• Proven leadership of global engineering organizations (e.g., 150+ engineers).
• Experience managing large engineering teams in India.
• Hands-on experience with modern agentic AI tools (Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, MCP-based agents/integrations or similar).
• Demonstrated ability to use AI to reverse-engineer and modernize complex legacy platforms.
