About the role
Role Overview
Epic Architect (Part-Time, Advisory) — Canada (Remote) You will be the Epic voice for a stealth-stage healthcare platform. The engagement is advisory only (no code/build work): you will review a working prototype, assess Epic integration realities, and help prioritize the next phase of build.
Responsibilities
- Review the current prototype and deliver a structured Epic-informed technical assessment.
- Identify which workstreams to prioritize first based on Epic-side complexity and risk.
- Advise on bidirectional Epic integration patterns, including FHIR and HL7 considerations.
- Surface practical Epic realities for planning, such as:
- access
- data exchange
- governance
- common pitfalls
- Provide ad hoc Epic context during investor, LOI, and early customer conversations.
Requirements (Mandatory)
- Active or past Epic certification (active preferred; lapsed acceptable with strong recent hands-on experience).
- Significant experience in an Epic health system environment as an architect, integration lead, or comparable senior role.
- Hands-on experience with bidirectional Epic integration, including reading from and writing to the patient record.
- Strong working knowledge of FHIR and HL7.
- Strong communication skills; able to translate Epic complexity for a non-Epic audience.
- Comfortable working in a fractional advisory capacity with a small founding team.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to other major EMRs (e.g., Cerner, eClinicalWorks).
- Background in revenue cycle management or upstream clinical/operational workflows.
- Experience advising early-stage health tech companies.
Engagement Details
- Part-time, fully remote, based anywhere in Canada.
- Variable cadence; must overlap with Eastern Time business hours for working sessions.
- Short-term initial advisory engagement with potential for future fractional engagements as the product matures.
