About the role
Role Overview
Epic Architect (Part-Time, Advisory) — Fully Remote You will be the primary Epic-informed voice supporting an early-stage healthcare platform in stealth mode. This is a pure advisory engagement (no code or build work), with variable cadence and the expectation to overlap with Eastern Time for working sessions.
Responsibilities
- Review the current prototype and provide a structured technical assessment from an Epic-informed perspective.
- Identify and recommend which workstreams should be prioritized first based on Epic-side complexity and risk.
- Advise on bidirectional Epic integration patterns, including FHIR and HL7 considerations.
- Surface practical Epic realities to plan for, including access, data exchange, governance, and common pitfalls.
- Provide ad hoc Epic context during investor, LOI, and early customer conversations.
Requirements
- Active or past Epic certification (active preferred; lapsed acceptable with strong recent hands-on experience).
- Significant experience within an Epic health system environment as an architect, integration lead, or comparable senior role.
- Hands-on bidirectional Epic integration experience, including reading from and writing to the patient record.
- Strong working knowledge of FHIR and HL7.
- Strong communication skills; able to translate Epic complexity for non-Epic stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fractional/advisory capacity with a small founding team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with other major EMRs such as Cerner and eClinicalWorks.
- Background in revenue cycle management or upstream clinical/operational workflows.
- Experience advising early-stage health tech companies.
Additional Notes
- Background checks will be required before the start date if selected.
- Variable part-time cadence; must overlap with Eastern Time during working sessions.
