Entry-Level Full-Stack Engineer

Role overview

Join Jackbox Games as an Entry-Level Full-Stack Engineer. You’ll work across backend and frontend to design, build, and scale systems that power Jackbox’s next-generation interactive streaming platform for real-time gameplay.

What you’ll do

• Backend (Go): Design, build, and maintain backend services in Go for current and future needs.
• Frontend: Develop frontend features and interfaces that connect to live backend systems for smooth player experiences.
• Live operations: Own and operate services in a 24/7 production environment (monitoring, incident response, and on-call rotations).
• Databases: Model and optimize relational database schemas for performance, reliability, and scale.
• Collaboration: Work with game teams, designers, and product managers to turn creative ideas into technical solutions.
• Engineering practices: Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
• Delivery & infrastructure: Contribute to CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment tooling.

What we’re looking for

• < 2 years of professional software engineering experience across front-end and backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go for backend/service development.
• Hands-on experience designing and querying relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL / MySQL).
• Experience operating live services with high availability requirements (24/7, SLAs, on-call).
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services.
• Comfort with modern frontend frameworks: Vue, TypeScript, Nuxt.js.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and how they fit into the SDLC.
• Debugging/profiling/observability skills (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Experience with real-time streaming protocols (WebRTC, HLS, RTMP) or low-latency media delivery.
• Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Open-source or visible engineering presence (blog, talks, classroom projects, etc.).

• Pay range: $93,492 – $112,276 (varies by candidate and role)
