About the role
Role overview
Entry-level communications specialist in Canonical’s communications team, reporting to the Director of Communications. The role focuses on B2B social media and community engagement for an audience involved in Ubuntu and open source (from #opensource to product and infrastructure topics).
Responsibilities
- Create, schedule, and publish content and campaigns across multiple social media channels
- Perform analysis and reporting on social media metrics, content performance, and campaign results
- Grow and nurture Canonical’s social media audiences; increase engagement and valuable actions
- Write and develop social assets/copy to align messaging with brand voice and drive audience action
- Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests
- Be audience-centric: support community moderation and direct audience engagement
- Drive awareness for integrated campaigns, product launches, webinars, industry announcements, and core content
- Package product offerings and educational material creatively (e.g., bare metal, AI, Kubernetes, diversity/CSR topics)
- Collaborate in a team environment emphasizing ownership, learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Experience managing social media platforms for tech brands (content team and/or marketing agency experience)
- Hands-on knowledge of social media management tools
- Understanding of web/analytics tools for social and web performance
- Proficiency with at least four platforms: LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit
- Strong analytical mindset and understanding of what content performs by platform and objective
- Experience with educational content funnels and using video as a core social marketing asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain quality
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year for internal events
